Overview
MASSCUT turns any audio into rhythmic phrases in real time. Instead of looping a fixed volume pattern, it decides when to open, how long to sound, where to cut and how much silence to leave, and groups those into phrases. Thin out a dense loop, turn a squelchy lead into a groove, or re-phrase drums without drawing a single automation line. The audio itself is never reordered.
How it works
-
Put it on a track
Any audio: pads, leads, drums, a full mix. MASSCUT locks to your DAW tempo.
-
Shape the phrasing
Probability, gate length, mass and variation decide when to open and where to rest.
-
Play it
Steer the groove live from the XY pad. A seed brings back a pattern you liked.
Features
-
Cuts to long ties
Gate lengths run from tiny cuts to ties that hold across several cells.
-
Algorithmic groove planner
Related gate patterns, grouped into phrases rather than random mutes.
-
Host-synced rates
Rates of 1/8, 1/16, 1/16T and 1/32, locked to the host transport.
-
Click-free envelopes
Every cut gets a sample-accurate envelope, so hard gates stay clean.
-
XY performance
Assign any two controls to the XY pad and push the phrasing around live.
-
Seeds
Variation is seeded, so a pattern you liked can be recalled exactly.
